The most comprehensive basketball information website. Has box score stats since the inception of the NBA but PBP only since 1997.
The official site of the league. Has a lot of stats but, like Basketball-Reference, only since 1997.
Huge repository of downloadable historical stats. The most complete all-time NBA leaderboards in categories like double-double and triple-doubles going back to the 40’s. A lot of unofficial blocks and steals numbers available from before 1974 as well.
Owned by Justin Jacobs who is constructing stint data for the period before PBP. Source of all regular season ON-OFF and RAPM data on this website before 1997. He is doing the most important work of any basketball historian that I know.
Owned by Ben Taylor. Source of a lot of free metrics like WOWYR used on this site. He has one of the best YouTube channels out there if you appreciate a combination of stats and film for very detailed breakdowns of players’ strengths and weaknesses.
The legendary Sixers statistician Harvey Pollack started publishing the team’s plus minus data since the 1977 season in the yearly Sixers Media Guides. From 1994-1996, he published league-wide plus minus data in the Pollack Statistical Yearbooks before the league started officially making play-by-play logs in 1997.
This spreadsheet contains playoff plus minus data for Jordan, Magic, Bird, Kareem and Shaq. Hakeem coming soon!
Amazing basketball community where a lot of great people are making contributions to our knowledge about the game each and every day. Special thanks to Dipper13, 70sFan, DraymondGold, and lessthanjake who all helped track games and consolidate the tracking data.
Basketball History Database Discord
Our very own Discord channel where we debate historical players, track games and discuss the future trajectory of the website. Several contributors including boxing and nba connoisseur and CEO have helped me track games thus far with several others expressing interest. As I’ve always reiterated, this website would not be possible without others who put in a lot of work alongside me.
